A design store and eatery where you’re invited to touch everything.
Head-over-heels in love with design, Maxime Pain was not a fan of the exclusive nature of the sector itself. So he decided to offer visitors to the European quarter a design store whose small eatery would give them an excuse to come into the store with no obligation to buy. And he required an eye-catching space to achieve this.
Do customers curl up on sofas just for the unique flavour of coffee? Or do the beverages in Living Room get their aroma from the designer furniture? Whatever. It’s worked. He’s managed to turn a substantial design gallery into a simple, unpretentious space. The instruction to ‘Make yourself at home’ is to be followed to the letter at Living Room.
It was love at first sight. The shell suggested by Atrium was exactly what I was looking for, with its great picture windows overlooking Place Jean Rey and its high ceilings. I didn’t hesitate!
